I am going to be one of those smart sounding people who posts the scientific name of the flower.
This is a 'Veronca Persica', or a 'birdseye speedwell.' This flower is generally seen as a weed, but I think it is very beautiful! :)

Nothing too fantastic, but still it is the first flower I have photographed this year! :dummy:

Come oooon spring! I know you are just around the corner!

I feel it's a bit too dark around the edges there. I mean, I like how bright the flower is in itself and how it stands out so much from the background, but it's also just... it isn't as grounded as it could be, perhaps?

The composition is a bit off as well, and the balance goes with that. The colours are amazing, though, and I do like how natural it feels and how it also feels tentative as the flower comes out of the darkness.

Perhaps you could have rotated this, but it is pretty fine as it is.

Yeah I went a little vignette happy on this one... ^^;
You're very right, this feels a bit unbalanced and 'off', I hadn't noticed that before... I'll have to go for a more grounded composition next time.

Nice! I don't know too much about photography but I think your blur technique is getting better. This really stands out. Love how you can almost feel the texture of the sepals and petals. A little bokeh effect would make it pop even more maybe?

Unfortunately there wasn't anything that I could've used to create bokeh. :noes: I think that's the biggest issue I had while shooting was trying to find an angle where the backdrop wouldn't be too dull.

that's very true! I think dandelions are the most notorious weed around here, but they are so pretty!
