If you're shooting indoors I usually use Christmas lights, set against a dark background so the wires are hidden and the colors stand out more. Glitter works well too if you want smaller bokeh, even though it makes a huge mess! Outdoors you will get the best bokeh by shooting against leafy trees, the light shining through them creates a beautiful effect!
