The ocean at my doorstepThe ocean at my doorstep grows;
water rises, hours fall,
soon longing shall be all I know.

Grey waters have no place to go
but through my doors and down my halls.
The ocean at my doorstep grows.

What I've lost, I cannot know
but hang in frames upon my walls.
Soon longing shall be all I know.

Remember days from long ago;
or were they dreams? I can't recall.
The ocean at my doorstep grows.

Long abandoned, summer's glow
has left me in decaying fall.

Step from my porch, immerse my toes,
up my legs, grey water crawls.

Curtainless WindowsI hate curtainless windows.

Whenever the glass is bare,
I feel if I should look
from my distractions
I'd find him there,
behind that transparent barrier,
leering into my
not-so-secret world.

I hate curtainless windows.
In every crack between the blinds,
I feel I may glance outside
and see his figure,
silhoutted against the streetlights
in the rainsoaked night.

I hate curtainless windows.

But sometimes,
even within the
safety of my curtains,
I feel no privacy.

In every word I write,
he hides behind the ink,
woven within each penstroke,
filling every empty space,
reminding me of how empty
I really am;

and how much I ha

Masterpiece Sunlight paints water
acrylic blue, rippled red,
life in every stroke.

It made her happyWhen they first met,
she made sure he spoke first;
made sure he broke that
delicate glass barrier
between lovelorn strangers and
'hello.'
Words held behind her teeth,
expectant lips poised,
but waited to speak,
because it's un-ladylike
to make the first move.

So he did.
It didn't make a difference,
but it made her happy.

When they went out,
she asked him to wear
his nicest black silk shirt
and his nicest
dry-clean-only pants
so if strangers' wandering eyes
fell upon him, he wouldn't leave
a bad impression.

Indifferent StillUnrefined, the sky runs free;
flawless in this noiseless night.
On rippled waters, shown the gleam
of solemn moon reflected bright;
of shadowed blue and star-stained white
that's grown so dim it cannot fill
the empty spaces, starved for light.
We stand, we watch, indifferent still.

Forever runs the mountain stream
whose waters reach the sea in plight.
She cries, if only she could scream,
then we may hear of lost delight,
of sufferings left out of sight,
of how she's choked against her will
though she fights back with all her might.
