I really do like the shot, though. I think the lighting is brilliant and it's pretty awesome how you have framed it as well. The thing I like most about it is the depth of field... mostly because the main subject matter stands out so starkly there.
Colours are great, anyway, and... yeah, I feel as if this is similar to something from the sea or something? At least, it gives me that impression.

I actually thought it looked kind of like a sea plant too! Still not sure exactly what this thing is, it was an interesting find.

Only thing that bothers me is the out-of-focus bit in the top left corner, it's a bit heavy. It'd be better if the gradation between in/out of focus had been a bit more subtle there, or just more of it in focus. Other than that, awesome!
Yeah I tend to lean waay too much towards shallow focus areas. Trying to break myself of that habit.
The one blue plant/line in the background (top center) is a bit distracting from the rest of the piece though.
